Conventions are like buses. Nothing for months then – hey! – two in a row. I’m at both FantasyCon and BristolCon this year, though quite lightly programmed. At FantasyCon, on Saturday 20th October I’ll be doing a reading and appearing on a panel on writing for video-games, at 5pm and 7pm respectively (probably – exact […]
Happy New Year all. It’s that time of year when we try and find stuff to look forward to, perhaps more than ever this year, and personally I’m looking forward to Saturday 18th February, that being when Picocon will be held at Imperial College, London. I like this casual little student con and this year […]
It’s that time of year again, when I get to attend one of my favourite conventions. BristolCon is on next Saturday in, well, Bristol. My own small part in it is as follows: 11am – Guest of Honour Interview. No, they haven’t asked me to be GoH again, but one of this year’s GoHs, Ken […]
As anyone who was at Eastercon probably already knows (thanks to lots of lovely posters, everywhere), Satellite 5 have been kind enough to invite me to be their author Guest of Honour, up in Glasgow in May 2016. Although I’ve been to both Glasgow Worldcons I’ve failed to get to any of the smaller cons […]
Just in time, here’s my Eastercon schedule. Friday 21:00 – I’ll be one of Paul Cornell’s stunt readers in the Newcon Press programme stream. Saturday 12:30 in ‘Johnson’ – More reading, from my stuff this time and it’s two for the price of one! with a chance to hear the opening of The Ships of Aleph, plus […]
This time next week I’ll be packing for Novacon, where I have a packed schedule: Friday 22:00: Congoing On a Shoestring – It’s been a busy year for British and Irish fans: a Worldcon in London, a Eurocon in Dublin, a clearly unmissable weekend in Nottingham. But in a time of austerity, how can we stretch our […]
It’s just over two weeks until one of my favourite conventions, BristolCon. Held on Saturday 25th October in (duh) Bristol, this is a lovely little one day convention. My schedule shows that the organisers know me far too well: Midday – Interactions: Conventions like Bristolcon are a great place to meet and chat with people you […]
On Sunday week, the 21st of September, I’ll be appearing at Station X, a multimedia extravaganza at Bletchley Park. Yes the Bletchley Park! Possibly my coolest gig this year, maybe excepting Worldcon. The event is ‘a curated weekend of immersive screenings and fun themed workshops’. In other words, you can watch Dr Strangelove in Teleprinter Hall, […]
This time next week I’ll be at FantasyCon in York. Aside from hanging out in the bar and meeting up with friends – especially those I missed in the glorious madness of Loncon – I’ll be on the following programme items, both on Saturday the 6th: 3.00pm – Reading. (Note sure what yet, as the […]
This time next week Loncon will be in full swing. For those who want to get started early – or who haven’t managed to get tickets to what promises to be the biggest Worldcon evah – then may I recommend the Gollancz Festival, on the 13th August. It starts with all sorts of virtual shenanigans […]
