Goodreads and me

I don’t hang out on Goodreads much. I still like the concept, although since it became property of the Evil A, I’m not so comfortable there.

Still, I was surprised to learn recently (from a reader of this very blog) that my habit of not putting stars next to books actually brings their rating down. I had assumed no stars = no comment, and that suited me fine. I feel a little uneasy, as an author, about rating books, especially ones written by friends.

However, as most of the books I list on Goodreads are ones I’ve enjoyed, I wouldn’t want to negatively impact their ratings. And so, I’ve just gone through my bookshelves and rated everything. Hopefully this won’t cause any trouble further down the line. I’m all for avoiding trouble, me.
