Two for Two

A book-a-year schedule means I can’t devote much time to my short stories, so I was particularly pleased to make a sale to Dark Fiction this week. The story in question is not a new one, but a reprint which originally appeared in Alfred Hitchcock’s Mystery Magazine back in 2004.

Although ‘Paying for Rain’ isn’t a Hidden Empire story (or even SF in the strict sense), it’s a story I am fond of, not least because it has only been seen by two markets, and both of them bought it. Anyone who regularly submits stories to professional magazines can tell you how rare a hit-rate like that is. So, I am indulging in a brief period of self-congratulation.

If you want to judge for yourselves, the story is scheduled to be available from Dark Fiction’s website as a free podcast (and hopefully in ezine format too) in May. Me and my ego will no doubt post a link to it then.
