Picocon and other diversions

After those first grim weeks of the new year, spring is finally on the way. And with it, for me, a pleasant outbreak of Social Life. Last night I was up in London for the star-studded Orion authors’ party, where I indulged in my traditional pastimes of attempting to drink my weight in free champagne, and failing to spot Michael Palin (‘He’s just over there, Jaine, by the bar’ ‘Where? I can’t see him!’ ‘Oh wait, he’s gone now.’)

This Saturday, I’m going to Picocon at Imperial College. This small but perfectly formed convention were kind enough to have me along as a Guest of Honour last year, and I had such a great time that I’m coming back as a punter this year. I recommend Picocon thoroughly; it’s loads of fun for very little money.
