May be busy

Yes, it will be (sorry, sorry, I don’t normally do puns but …)

May had originally been pencilled in for getting to grips with the final changes before delivery on Guardians of Paradise, but my diary is rapidly filling up with other stuff: as well as the two book signings at the end of the month, I’ve been invited to appear on a panel (or two, exact details tbc) at Sci-Fi London, which is being held over the first May bank holiday weekend.

I’m very flattered to be asked, as this is a big event, though I’m also a little apprehensive, because it is mainly film-based, and though I like a good SF movie as much as the next fan (I’ve just written a piece for the BSFA on Aliens), I’m strictly a punter, and certainly no expert when it comes to movies. The organisers have said that this year they’d like to broaden the event’s remit to include actual scientists, and though I’m not one of those either, they also want fiction writers along. Nerves aside, I think it should be fun.
