Getting on with it

I’m doing National Novel Writing Month again.

I did it 2 years ago (successfully), in the pre-publication days when I needed something to make me write. The result of that little splurge, Epiphany Night remains unsold, but I have hopes for it coming out some day.

Though I’m currently lucky enough to be writing for publication, once I realised that if I didn’t get 50,000 words of Guardians of Paradise written this month I’d be way behind I thought ‘Why not?’. NaNoWriMo is a great kick up the backside, and this time I have about a dozen other writing friends joining me in the frenzy.

For frenzy it has been so far. I’ve managed a whopping 6,477 words of first draft in the first two days and am feeling far more pleased with myself than I should. I know from experience that I am very unlikely to keep that level of output up for long.

In other news, the brother-in-law fixed the radiator in the garret during one of my brief breaks. Go him.
